Pregnancy & Indigestion

Indigestion can be a pain when you're pregnant (literally) even if you've never suffered from it before there's a good chance you may experience it at some time during pregnancy even as early as a couple of weeks. There is no known cause for indigestion during pregnancy; just those lovely hormones and your expanding belly pressing against your stomach and all your insides (yay!) Here are some tips to help keep indigestion at bay:

Eat 5-6 small meals per day :

It's a myth that you need to eat for two. So make your meals smaller and more frequent to help with digestion.

Don't eat late at night:

When you lie down right after you eat and aren't digested properly your food can easily float back up causing indigestion

Avoid spicy, fried and fatty foods:(raw onions can also cause indigestion)

Some women say drinking milk may help when indigestion rears its ugly head (ice cream is milk right?)

Remember anti acids are one of the few things you can take during your pregnancy so if that spicy chicken wing you've been craving is worth it you've got back up! Don't forget to check with your doctor or midwife before you take any over the counter medication.
