Doula Myth #5 - All doulas wear Birkenstocks, long flowy skirts and love natural births.
Truth be told, I do love a flowy skirt in the summer time. So, if we show up to your interview wearing a flowy skirt don’t run for the hills! In all seriousness, our doulas are all individuals just like you. We all have something about us that makes us unique whether it’s the way we dress, how we style our hair, if we wear make up, have tattoos, wear Birkenstocks or not (how comfy do Birkenstocks and a flowy skirt sound though, let’s be real) but the one thing we all have in common is our ability to let you, be you. We do not let your lifestyle choices or birthing choices affect how we care for you and your family. We will never push a certain type of birth or feeding method on you.
We believe in you and your capabilities to make strong, empowered, informed decisions when it comes to your body.
So, rock your favourite outfit, put on your favourite song, style your hair the way you love it. Most importantly birth the way you’ve always imagined and we’ll be right there to support you.
